About Us

Group Risk Management Services (Pty) Ltd (GRMS) is a completely independent company, specialising in all aspects of risk management. When the Barlow Rand Ltd Group was unbundled in 1994, the existing Risk Management department was restructured to form GRMS under the leadership of Evert Groeneweg and Des Vernon. Continuing to offer a full risk management service to the newly independent group of companies (known as the Mutual Risk Group), GRMS has since also expanded into providing risk management services to many other leading companies, and broadened its range of services to include the areas of risk management administration and Structured Risk Transfer programmes.

At GRMS we have developed a unique "rent a Risk Manager" approach which enables us to deliver a focused, added value and independent service. We take a flexible approach to the provision of risk management services, either working with existing Risk Management departments or helping companies to develop a full risk management approach from scratch.

We have recently celebrated our 13th anniversary of business.

In October 2006 GRMS was merged into the Eikos Group.

The Eikos Group was established in 1999, by a group of marine insurance and risk finance professionals. This team has been responsible for building a multi-national organisation, with 65 specialised personnel servicing a broad client base across the world from offices in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and London.

The acquisition of GRMS & RAS in to the Eikos Group will significantly enhance the Group's ability to fulfill its stated strategic objective of providing risk related solutions which leverage specific areas of competence while at the same time providing seamless integrated products. The synergy created by the merger will enhance the joint ability to provide market leading services and products to all sectors of industry in SA and around the world.

Both GRMS and RAS will continue to operate as separate entities with the current management and staff structures remaining involved in the business at all levels.
